Skin Brush Your Way To Health
Dry skin brushing may be the single most important therapy
you add to your detox program.
Your skin is your largest elimination organ. It releases a pound of waste each day and will be the first organ to show symptoms of imbalance or toxicity.
The skin is often called the 3rd kidney because it eliminates a quarter of the toxins from the body (the lungs are the 2nd kidney). If your skin cannot efficiently release toxins, you may experience rashes, acne, hives, itchiness, body odor, or even eczema and psoriasis.
Dead skin cells, excreted wastes and external pollution (including dirt and skin care products) can build up and clog your pores. Clogged pores inhibit your skin from effectively releasing toxins.
If toxins are unable to escape through the skin they will either be stored in fat cells, contributing to cellulite and other fatty deposits, or they will be re-circulated back into the blood stream, overworking the kidneys, liver and other organs. Dry skin brushing can have a huge overall impact on your whole body health.
Benefits of Dry Skin Brushing
Increases lymph and blood flow. The lymphatic system is an essential component of the immune system. Lymphocytes (white blood cells) carry nutrients to cells as they remove waste.
Exfoliation. Removes dead skin cells that can clog pores and the skins ability to eliminate waste. Dry dead skin build up is a sign of detoxification and it is necessary to exfoliate them from the skin's surface. Improving the skin's texture and allowing it to produce healthier skin cells.
Reduction of Weight/ Cellulite.Dry Skin brushing has an amazing effect on weight loss and cellulite!
Strengthens Immune System. Dry skin brushing helps in your system's ability to recover from illness and infections. Stimulating the body's natural ability to remove toxins allows for it to combat bacteria and viruses more effectively.
Stimulates oil glands. Daily skin brushing helps produce oil secretion, necessary for healthy skin.
Tones Muscles and Skin. As skin is stimulated so are the nerve endings. Dry brushing activates the nerves which stimulate the muscle fibers increasing muscle tone. Tighter skin also is a result of increased blood flow and the stimulation of new skin cells.
How To Dry Skin Brush
The best time to skin brush is right before your bath or shower. Begin with very gentle strokes and adapt the intensity of your brushing to match the sensitivity of your skin.
Here are some basic methods:
Starting at the feet - use 7 single strokes up to the heart, stroking feet and legs in 4 sections (front, side, back, side)
Remember to also stroke in the groin area, this is a very important area.
Abdomen - use 7 single strokes to the heart on each side of abdomen, you can then go in a circular motion around your belly button.
Neck & Chest - use 7 single strokes down neck and chest toward heart in 3 sections, (side, side, back) include behind ears.
Arms - brush 7 single strokes from inside wrist to elbow, then from elbow thru underarm to breast.
A slight flush feeling is normal and shows that your
skin brushing is working.
Happy Brushing!
